I’ve always been creative—I just didn’t always believe creativity could become a career.

In high school, I designed graphics for the clubs I was part of and painted custom calligraphy signs to help raise money for mission trips. At the time, it was simply something I loved doing. I didn’t see it as “building skills” or “gaining experience.” It was just fun. It was meaningful. It felt like me.

Then, on a mission trip before my freshman year of college, I fell in love with photography.

There was something powerful about capturing real moments—stories unfolding naturally, emotions you couldn’t script. That’s when I started to understand that creativity could do more than look pretty. It could connect people.

The summer before my freshman year of college, I was asked to have my photos used in marketing materials for Children’s HopeChest. At 18, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I didn’t realize I was stepping into branding and marketing—I just knew I loved seeing something I created make an impact. Looking back now, those seemingly small creative moments were quietly laying the foundation for the career I would step into five years later.

I entered college planning to become a journalist. But during freshman orientation at Ole Miss, I was introduced to Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC), and everything shifted. For the first time, I saw how storytelling, strategy, design, and connection could align. It felt like someone had put language around what I’d been doing instinctively for years.

My time at Ole Miss didn’t just give me a degree—it gave me clarity. It showed me that I could build a life around creativity, that I didn’t have to choose between meaningful work and beautiful work. They could be the same thing.

And that’s how katelyn m creates was born.

katelyn m creates is a reflection of everything I love about creating: bright ideas, meaningful stories, and genuine connection. Whether I’m behind the camera, designing a brand identity, building social media content, or bringing custom events to life through banners, invitations, and personal design details, my goal is always the same:

To bring your vision to life in a way that feels authentic to you and exciting to share.

Because creativity isn’t just about making things look good,

It’s about making people feel something.

That’s what I’m here to do.
